Wanderland

My wonderful friend Bryn and some of her friends up in the boonies where she lives started developing a wonderful universe what combined Wonderland, (ie, Alice in) and the idea of the Seven levels of hell / Limbo.

So basically (what I understand from Bryn's excited rambling (I love you Bryn)) all the characters in Wanderland are people who, in life, deserved to go to one of the circles of hell. They wind up in this world, where instead of seven levels, there are four "courts", each ruled by a queen of a different suit, and each with a different degree of severity. The Wanderers have the ability to travel between courts, if they work together.

There are a ton of different elements that she's still explaining to me, slash working on with me- such as the importance of each characters clock (watch, time piece, hourglass- etc), and the ramifications when one breaks or loses it, as well as these creepy creatures which are the antagonist monster things. The description she gave made me think of these---------------------------->

So anyway. I decided the whole idea was a great idea for a comic, so I have been working on designing various parts of it.

Chesh- the character Bryn apparently designed with an idea of me behind it... can't say I'm not flattered... <3 Based on the Cheshire cat, she is sly, manipulative, cunning, and finds everything to be delightfully amusing.
Hadder and Clubs: Hadder is obviously based on the Hatter. His whole character is that his clock has been shattered, and therefore lost the rest of his marbles. He's kind of selfish and manipulative, as well as totally nuts.
Clubs (lower left) is one of the queens of the courts, the youngest, and also most psycho.
This is just a page I threw together to show a little of the court they were in, and this introduces Lux, who is based on the White Rabbit. In this particular scene, he is looking for Alan (based on Alice- woo gender change!) and thinks Chesh either TOOK him- or has some idea of where he is.

I have more than just three images saved on my computer at home, but I'm working off of whatever I had on Facebook.

Woooo.

I really need to keep up with this better.

So I've completed a few things since Susan Sarandon. And Heeeeeeere they are. ((that was supposed to be in the voice of the Mirror on the Wall from Shrek 1 when he's beginning the bachlorette bit... Yeah, obscure. Shut up.))

This is a drawing I had to do as homework for figure drawing- though I am very proud of it, it's a complete copy from an image he handed out in class. None of it is original, I'm just proud of my technique I guess.

So I found an old binder I had full of drawings from fifth grade up to my senior year in highschool. I slapped a few things in there to constitute "college", but I also found a series of this samurai-ish character that I had re-drawn every year for 6 years. I finally made the next installment.

Her name was "Katana". Yeah. sixth grade me came up with that one. Original, huh?

This is the Clint. I love this painting, I am SO proud of how it came out. And then I posted it on Imgur, and hot 195 upvotes!!! MY RECORD!

Last and least, we have this weird painting of an old woman.
So basically the assignment was to only use three colors: Yellow Ochre, Cadmium red Medium, and Pthalo (or however you spell it) blue. That in itself was going to lead to a weird, fauvist style painting. But THEN we had Mary for a model- super nice lady, always happy to model- but she's not particularly attractive. But hey. She's over 60. Go her for being in shape at all.

So that last image was a PAIN IN THE NECK to upload. I sent it to this computer from my phone, but since I have three different e-mails and I use them all for different things, getting it downloaded and then uploaded was a stupid hassle. I had to re-log in to various accounts at least 6 times. But anyway. Now you get to see a primary-colored old lady.

I'm in another painting class.

With my favorite teacher, no less. Jim Flahaven. He's the man.

Anyway, here's my first ever oil painting.

IT'S SUSAN SARANDON!

If I was any good, you got that without me shouting it. Hopefully.

Illustrator

Long time no see!

Not that anyone routinely reads this, but I still feel bad for not updating in a while.

I don't know what it is about this assignment: or maybe it's Illustrator that I'm having issues with, but no matter the size of the file I'm working on: it comes out like a pixely piece of crap when I save it as a JPEG. But other than that I like my color scheme, and I feel like I did the atmospheric perspective pretty well for something so simple.

PRAISE ME!

And here's a bunch of cartoony doodles of my friends as students at Hogwarts.

Sin City inspired piece

So in my digital design class we had to pick a spread out of ADBUSTERS magazine, and I chose this awesome comic-book style page with silhouette people and speech dialogue bubbles everywhere. The first thing that popped into my head was Sin City.

Hooray, Noir goodness.

So, I grabbed an image of a city, basically TRACED it in photoshop, drew a couple silhouettes of people in the front, and added speech bubbles. So I made kind of a Sin City, adbuster-page-I-saw hybrid. And HERE IT IS!

It is sloppy in places, but I kind of like it that way.

I'm proud of it. No shame.

Something I'm good at

Here we go. Drawings I can be proud of.

Figure drawing. This was in class, so I actually did work. Heh, like I SHOULD be doing on my homework....

This is actually a woman from my class. Her art is amazing. She's from russia: her name is pronounced "Yelena", it's probably not spelled that way. She likes my artwork, and since SHE is so amazing, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!

I wish I was as proud of all of my art as I am of that Portrait. Maybe I should spend more time on my works. Maybe. Or maybe I can play more League of Legends.

I'm a failure. (OR AM I?!?)

And this is a photoshop doodle of my Commander Shepard. This will never be completed because I did it in class on the school computer, which has a different photoshop than I do.
