The scary old lady

Finally, a chance to do something I'm good at! A HUMAN! With a monochromatic color palate, how about my favorite color? Green? That won't start looking like the wicked witch of the west will it?

Oh god, it DOES look like the wicked witch of the west.

Yep. Another painting I'm proud of, and working towards becoming better and better. I did notice other people in the class were more successful with the HAIR than I was, but hey. I'm practicing.

This painting.

God damn this painting.

I hated it so much right up to the very end.

But at the very end I loved it. I love the final outcome.

POWER OF PERSEVERANCE!

This is my first draft. I completely scrapped it and painted over it. Hated the composition and the colors.

Second try. At this time I'm feeling pretty good about myself.

Starting to feel a little off, like it's not gonna go well.

At this point I'm like FUUUUU WHY ISN'T IT WORKING?!?

And then I finished it and it looks lovely. Power of perseverance.

Gettin' homework done. The top bit is doing the same view twice with different ways to do the texture, and the second is painting objects with good volume. :3

Second Painting: forms and earthy tones

I forgot to bring my phone or any picture-taking device, so this last image was taken with better lighting and when I had completed the entire piece. I'm quite proud of how it came out, but still bummed that I am NOT the best painter in the class. Not even close. But it makes me want to work harder.

Also, here's an old volume exercise we did last week.

Mr. Tap

My drawing of my Water Bottle. Mr. Tap. He's got so much character! All the paint chipping off and a random rubber band around the middle. I love it.

Painting: 1

Finished my first painting 1 painting today! Black and white still life, with palate knife. OOF that was tough. But here are a few pictures of it in process: first picture early in, last picture is the final product. I think it's kinda cool to see how the shapes formed and became identifiable.

Overall: I'm pleased. For what we were supposed to do: I think I did my best, and it looks pretty nifty.
