What I normally do is I draw something, I work on it, and then I call it "finished" and move on. But recently I've been drawing things out in my sketchbook, and then moving them over to better paper and adding mediums. Take these two bar scenes for example:
This is the original I did in my sketchbook. I like it, it's not bad, but it's vague and cartoony.

This is a quick sketch I did while at a bar. This one is proving more difficult, because in my sketch I was working with real people, and in my more polished version I am working only with the sketch of real people. Harder than I thought it would be.
Also it's not done yet. But here is a work in progress image of it.
I feel like a grown up; working with sources and polishing them up in my studio. Wow.
