Doodle Dump

Not only was it slow at work today, I didn't have our ALMOST new Head Teller hounding me to be doing something bank related. Like reading about Credit Cards. ... because why wouldn't I want to be reading about our CREDIT CARDS?!??!?

 More of my Wanderland drawings...

These are based on true stories. And I posted them on Imgur, but apparently I find them to be way more amusing than anyone else.

Also the word "Imgur" just there was a link. So was this one.

Needed a change.

First off, here is my (practically) complete Alphonse Mucha copy. I realized I still didn't have the updated picture here yet, so let's get the art on the art blog first, before I rant about my looks.

Ok. So I was frumpy. I felt frumpy. I didn't feel attractive. I wanted to feel attractive. So here's my transformation.

So this was me, walking into the hair salon. It was 8 PM on a Saturday, and JC penny salon was still open, and this wonderful girl Whitney cut my hair. She was very excited when I said I wanted something asymmetrical and edgy, so I had to tone her back when I said I work at a bank, and that even if I wanted it to be, it couldn't be THAT cool...
She didn't have time to style it or anything, which was fine, since I wanted to color it at home. (ooof stupid work vest...)
Lathered all that dye in my hair...
plucked the sh*t out of my eyebrows...
little eyeliner and a hair straightener later, and BOOM! I feel cool again.
I think I just needed to prove to myself that I can still be adorable. ..I think. God, I sound conceited.

A work in Progress

The assignment this time in Painting is to do a copy of a famous figure-painter. I picked Alphonse Mucha because I love him. I love him so very much.

And yet I want to kill him. 1 million years dungeon. His work is so flat looking... and yet there are smooth shifts from YELLOW TO BLUE. I mean, WHAT? And then there's all the intricate detail.... I might die. I'll just die, that will be easier than finishing this painting on time.

I know, right? Here, they look awesome. Here, they look like I'm almost done! Everything's fine, she's amazing!

WRONG.

Here's what it's SUPPOSED to look like. I have so much work ahead of me... and so much color to remove...

Now. Let me introduce you to the two greatest artists I've ever had the pleasure of knowing on a somewhat personal (acquaintance... maybe almost friend) level.

This is Dean. He's only two years older than me, and yet his work is so amazing and detailed and beautiful... I want to kick him. But, of course, he's super nice and says my art is good too, so I hold in my violent urges.

This is Yelena. She's from russia, and she's much older than me- and therefore has an extremely unfair advantage. Her artwork has been so meticulous and beautiful that I've literally stared at it for extended amounts of time, and debated paying her for it. She's ridiculous  I want to be her. She's also super nice, and therefore makes it really hard for me to hate her.

My (somewhat) original Wanderers

Bryn told me I could design a fourth wanderer, as she was working on one of her own based on an owl. I decided I'd whip up three drawings, and then she could choose. Here is what I doodled up to show her.

I have an obvious bias in the second drawing. Bryn, however, decided she could not choose, and we started talking about all three and how their personalities differ.

Snake, or Shi'ira, is emotionless, cold, and calculating.
Fox, or Simon, is sarcastic, cunning, and arrogant.
Bear, or Leuther, is stern, blunt, violent, and oddly noble.

So once we made these characters, I drew up a few little vignettes.

The way I imagine Chesh, is that she is constantly climbing things, walking deftly from tree to tree, and will often step from a branch to someone's shoulder and then back to branches. Also, her constant smirk makes me imagine she enjoys herself and entertains herself, sometimes at the expense of others.
Excuse the weird boxing. I drew him way too huge in comparison to her in the second bit, so I shrunk him down and didn't think to fix the coloring. Hehe. Simon is bad at cards.

Wanderland

My wonderful friend Bryn and some of her friends up in the boonies where she lives started developing a wonderful universe what combined Wonderland, (ie, Alice in) and the idea of the Seven levels of hell / Limbo.

So basically (what I understand from Bryn's excited rambling (I love you Bryn)) all the characters in Wanderland are people who, in life, deserved to go to one of the circles of hell. They wind up in this world, where instead of seven levels, there are four "courts", each ruled by a queen of a different suit, and each with a different degree of severity. The Wanderers have the ability to travel between courts, if they work together.

There are a ton of different elements that she's still explaining to me, slash working on with me- such as the importance of each characters clock (watch, time piece, hourglass- etc), and the ramifications when one breaks or loses it, as well as these creepy creatures which are the antagonist monster things. The description she gave made me think of these---------------------------->

So anyway. I decided the whole idea was a great idea for a comic, so I have been working on designing various parts of it.

Chesh- the character Bryn apparently designed with an idea of me behind it... can't say I'm not flattered... <3 Based on the Cheshire cat, she is sly, manipulative, cunning, and finds everything to be delightfully amusing.
Hadder and Clubs: Hadder is obviously based on the Hatter. His whole character is that his clock has been shattered, and therefore lost the rest of his marbles. He's kind of selfish and manipulative, as well as totally nuts.
Clubs (lower left) is one of the queens of the courts, the youngest, and also most psycho.
This is just a page I threw together to show a little of the court they were in, and this introduces Lux, who is based on the White Rabbit. In this particular scene, he is looking for Alan (based on Alice- woo gender change!) and thinks Chesh either TOOK him- or has some idea of where he is.

I have more than just three images saved on my computer at home, but I'm working off of whatever I had on Facebook.

Woooo.
